Video Transcript for Review of the Single Rocker Switch

Ellen : Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the single rocker switches. Now these are available in a couple of different configurations. They're all going to have the same specs. They're going to be the same size, give you the same power ratings and everything, but they just have some different color options. So as you can see, I have an amber switch, but ones in kind of a parchment or off white backing plate.

The other ones in black will also have other colors to choose from red, blue, green, and should make it easy to color coordinate. If we've got a couple of different switches or match with our original switch, if it was something different than just your typical solid switch. The other nice thing about that being an illuminated switch is that it makes an easy visual indicator of whenever it's actually powered on.So there's going to be an extra pull back here just to power that light. This is going to be a single pole single throw so it's just going to turn one item on or off, just a really simple switch. So we can take a little closer look at these guys and see how they look side by side.

So again, as I mentioned, these two are going to be pretty much identical. Just the backing plate is different or the housing is different, but the same attachment points for our wiring. And if you compare that to the other ones, again, just that center section is all that's different. There's also a red version that has, or a red switch that has a white backing as well. So it should be an option here at etrailer.com to match up with your original switch. As far as the specs with these, the amperage rating is going to kind of vary depending on the usage.

So for a 125 volt AC, it's going to have a 16 amp rating. It can handle three quarters horsepower at 125 volts up to 250 volts AC, 12 amps at 250 volts AC and also 10 amps at 14 volts DC. As far as the size for each of these, again, identical to each other. The cut-out, so the size that this will fit into, is about nine sixteenths of an inch wide so just under a half inch, oh excuse me, just over a half inch and then about one and an eighth inch tall. There are these plugs on either side or these prongs on either side, they should have some give to help hold the tension for the switch inside. So you want to have at least an inch and an eighth for that to squeeze into.

And then the overall dimensions, it's about an inch and a quarter from outside edge to outside edge. And then just about just shy of three quarter inches wide. The height coming off of our mounting surface is going to be about three eights of an inch. If we go from where it mounts flush to the top of that switch. These are all made in the USA. They are UL, CSA, VDE and ROHS approved so basically that just means they've been tested to be up to standard and safe to use in your RV, or just about any other kind of automotive application you might have for them. That's pretty much all there is to it for our single rocker switches. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if one of these guys is right for you. If not, we do have some other options available here at etrailer.com. So check them out. Thanks for watching..

  • Can I Use a Light Switch w/ the Gustafson 12V LED RV and Utility Light 277-000493?
Hey Jerry! Yes, you can use a on/off switch, like item # 37212525, with the Gustafson 12V LED RV and Utility Light item # 277-000493. It uses 16 gauge wire.

  • Is There A Way To Turn Off The Display On A Tekonsha Prodigy P3 90195?
Hi Stephen! The screen on the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will light up when it is active and/or senses motion. It does automatically shut off after 15 to 20 minutes of complete stillness. There isn't a way to just turn it off when you are at your final destination though. I suppose you could use something like the JR Products Single Rocker Switch - 12V - On/Off - SPST - Black Plate with Red Illuminated Switch # 37212525 as a kill switch for the black power wire. You would just have to...

  • Replacement SPST Switch for Snoozy II Trailer
Hey Dan, we have the part # 37212525 which is an SPST switch like what you are looking for with three terminals on the back. The cutout dimension the switch is designed to fit is 1-1/8" tall x 9/16" wide which is really close to what you mentioned.

  • Recommendation for Adding LED Light Strip Under Awning
I recommend installing the Opti-Brite LED Strip Light for RV Awnings # OPT32ER under your awning so you can use it whether your awning is out or in. Since this is a small LED light you should be okay tying into the wiring for the roller lights but I'm not sure I would be comfortable having those roller lights on if the awning is rolled up. Even LED lights can get warm and it probably wouldn't be good to have that directly pressed against the awning fabric. Because of this I recommend routing...

  • Replacement 3 Terminal Rocker Switch for RV Stairs

  • How to Wire 12V Battery in Enclosed Trailer to Power Trailer Lights Independent of 7-Way Connection
To charge your battery bank from shore power you need a converter like the 45 Amp Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter and Smart Battery Charger # PD9245C and then you can use the Go Power Heavy-Duty Modified Sine Wave Inverter # 34280174 so you can have 2 standard-type outlets. To power the interior lights on your trailer you'll just pull that power directly from the battery bank and you'll control the power using a rocker switch like part # 37212525. That will give you the...

  • Can I add Lights To My Open Stock Trailer Without Adding in an Additional Battery
Hey, Ashley! If you’re using an auxiliary battery on your trailer, you can absolutely wire the lights directly into that battery. Whether or not you’d need to add an additional battery really depends on how much power you’re using overall. What type of battery are you currently running (lead acid, AGM, lithium, etc.)? Also, do you ever run into issues with the battery running low based on how you use it now? If not, adding a few lights shouldn’t cause any problems. As for the lights...

  • Cut Out Dimensions For JR Products Illuminated 12V On/Off Single Rocker Switch
When we measured the cut out dimensions, we found that they were 1-1/8" tall x 9/16" wide, so that is the actual dimension for the JR Products Illuminated 12V On/Off Single Rocker Switch. This switch comes in three different colors so you can choose the one that is right for you; they all have the same cut out dimensions as well: - Blue Illuminated Switch: Single Rocker Switch - 12V - On/Off - SPST # 37213685 - Red Illuminated Switch: Single Rocker Switch - 12V - On/Off - SPST # 37212525 -...

  • Small Single-Pole Rocker Switch
I am not 100 percent sure what size you need, but a small option for a single-pole rocker switch is the Pollak Universal-Design Rocker Switch # PK34308. This switch is less than an inch wide (15/16") and just under 1-3/4" tall (1-11/16"). The Single Rocker Switch # 37212525 is another option and is just 1-1/8" tall x 1/2" wide. I have added a link to our entire selection of rocker switches for you to check out as well.

  • Parts Needed to Connect Battery Bank to Inside Lights on Snowmobile Trailer
For your application I recommend using an in-line fuse holder like the 10 Amp Kit # 55151 or the 15 Amp Kit # C55152. These some with butt connectors and a lead wire to run for power so you get everything in a kit. A circuit breaker, like the 20 Amp # PK54520, is rated for higher things like a trickle charge from your tow vehicle battery to the trailer battery bank which is why I recommend the fuse instead of the circuit breaker. Aside from the fuse you'll need a switch like the Single...
